The pair produced their best dressage result at 5* level, followed by a clear XC with only time faults to add on a tough course that saw 11 eliminations and 9 retirements, and then a faultless show jumping round to move them from 11th to 7th place. After their tenth place at Badminton earlier in the year, they have now completed two world class 5* international tracks and cap a perfect end to a fantastic 2022 eventing season.

“Alfie was fabulous. I only wish I had gone a little faster at the beginning of the XC but I wanted to make sure he found his stride before I pushed on. He did and he had a running finishing.”

“What a wonderful horse and he was still full of energy on the last day, jumping clear in the tight show jumping time when poles were rolling and time faults clocking up for many of the competitors.”

Richard still found time to do a course walk on the Friday and share his experience on how to approach and jump the course with around 50 keen eventing Team Jones followers.
